I left my heart at few blocks away

Day 6 of first grade for Izzy and Sofi.
Lots of tears last night from Sofi.
More this morning.
"It's too long Mommy."
"I want to be home with you."
"You're home all day by yourself. I could stay with you."
"I don't want to go to gym class."
"I have to sit out in gym and everyone looks at me."

It's 10:15 a.m., and I feel like I've been through the wringer.
I'm emotionally drained.
Absolutely exhausted,
and praying that she doesn't cry through the day of school.
She did yesterday.
Hopefully this silly face will be back soon.

Just tried to make myself a cup of coffee.
Tasted horrible.
Forgot to put the grounds in.

I think I need to take a personal day.
This too shall pass.

  1. It's almost too bad she got the cast off before school started. When Micah had his cast and crutches at school, he was a local celebrity. Now is just the yucky no pe stuff. It'll pass. Head to Starbucks.

  2. So sorry, I know how bad school tears can be...theirs and MINE!!
You're right, this too shall pass.
Snuggle up tight and enjoy the night

  3. This makes me sad! She's so sweet and adorable, I can't imagine how she's not the most popular girl already. I have no doubt she will be very soon. Treat yourself to an extra sinful coffee from your favorite shop and try to think happy thoughts. This will definitely pass and us folks out in blogland are sending positive vibes your way. :)

  4. oh, julie, i feel so bad! it has to be quite an adjustment, it is a long day for them so little.
this is how i imagine our first week or year at big girl school. mckinley didn't care for 3-4 year preschool last year, it was not even 3 hours. she has gone 3 days so far and is thrilled, i thought she would freak out when she found out it was 3 days a week this time. i think it helps that her teacher is the sweetest person i have ever met.
hope things get better really soon!
