If You're Reading This,

Thank You!

Time until the kids are out of school is running out!
I'm getting a little reflective,
and yes,
even a little sappy.

Sometimes I wish it could all just stand still.

This school year was such a big shift for me personally....
my babies in 1/2 day kindergarten.
Time alone in the mornings to figure out...
Time to create again.
Time to work out.
Time to volunteer more at school.
Time to clean (ok maybe not so much).
Time to have coffee or hang with friends for a bit.
Time to tackle some bigger projects.
Time to just be.

And it's been good.

Time to really decide how I want to use my time.
What things really matter,
and what don't.

I'm thankful to this blogging world where I've found a new outlet,
and met some kindred spirits.

In my daily world,
I often feel like the odd ball.
My creativity and home decorating and fashion sense is just all a little "out there."
It's all good,
but sometimes it's really nice to know that I'm not alone.

So,
thank you....
for your comments,
for your own blogs that stretch me further,
and for being my friend...
I just wish that many of you lived closer!

-Julie

  2. I want to copy & paste this post because I would write the same things today! This year was a whirl. I had so much time that I haven't had before and as I sit here today, I am wondering what I did with it...
Oh well, I am glad I have entered the blog world and met friends like you!
    Yea summer!

    Hi Julie-

Reading your post about the end of the school year brought back many memories. Having time for yourself is so important. That way you are recharged and can give your children time and attention without giving up on your own needs. I am at the other end - The empty nester which is quite a change. Still getting used to it. Life just keeps evolving.

Thanks for the comment on my blog about Burlington, VT. It was so hard to leave. We plan on visiting her in July. We try to go a few times each semester. This will be her first time up there all summer. Have you ever rode bikes North on the bike path? It is the best 20 miles. You are literally out on the water for about 5 miles. Can't wait to do that again.
    Enjoy your weekend-
    Diane

  4. It feels like forever until my baby will be in kindergarten, but I know I'll be just as sappy.

I think it's funny how we can reach out through the computer and find some kindred souls that touch our days without physically being there. Thanks for being one of those people.

Good luck on organizing your summer. We just survived week one. Barely.

  5. What a lovely post! My baby next year starts preschool next year and my oldest starts high school. Ugh! Looking forward to the alone time and I feel guilty for that.

I know how you feel about blogging too. It seems I never have time to just hang out with the girls. Of course, you would need girlfriends to hang out with too. This gives me that outlet that I just love. All from the privacy of my home in my pj's! Who could ask for more?

  7. Hi Julie,
i just found your blog and after reading this post feel I have met a kindred spirit. everything you wrote here I can relate too. It all seems to be rushing by too quickly and the relief that is felt to get some time back to yourself is tinged with the sadness that the little one is growing up too quickly and the big ones are growing away a little more each day. such a lovely post and it makes me appreciate my children all the more.

  9. What a great post. My son was in first grade this year and I was alone. I too had to find out what to do and how to spend my day. It took me several months into the school year before I didn't feel so alone. I have to say though, that the extra time to clean (maybe) and meet friends or my hubby for lunch, volunteer at school, workout, etc...was very nice...but I'm happy they gave him back to me for the summer!
    Have a good one!
