Cast is Off!

Sofi on the happiest day of her Summer....
Cast came off 6 days ago.
She's still hesitant to walk on it completely.

Anyone gone through this?

No pain.
X-Ray looks great.
Just timid.

Still using the crutches to move as fast as her siblings,
but huge progress since 6 days ago.

Baby steps.

  1. Yay, Sofi... you did it! My son broke his leg in a soccer scrimmage when he was 15 and as much as he whined to get the cast off so he could get back on the soccer field, he was, as you say, timid at first. But after a week or so he was back to normal. Enjoy the rest of your summer, Sofi!

  2. That is one happy little girl! From what I have seen from kids and adults I know who have had to wear a cast for a long time, they do tend to baby the injured area from 1 - 2 weeks after having the cast removed. It seems to be instinctual. I bet she will be back to her normal self within just a few days.

  3. Micah was about this age when he broke his leg. We had the additional complication that it was his club foot, so I was really paranoid about it. It took him a good 6-8 weeks to be treating it like the other one. I think his recovery was extra long, to be sure, but she'll be running crazy soon enough.

  5. I remember being that way (timid) after getting a cast off my arm in fourth grade. She looks so happy to be FREE!
